The introduction of
"Greek nuts" to European countries. The Roman Brought almond nuts to Italy from Greece around 200 B.C calling them "Greek nuts". Where they were welcomed enthusiastically as a taste treat to enjoy on in combination with other ingredients, especially in the form of sweets.
In fact, almonds coated with sugar (known to us today by
Jordan Almond) first appeared in Italian diet in 177 B.C.
